Tregole | Chianti Classico

2004

At last we have found a really good, estate-bottled Chianti Classico from the Conte family's estate 'Fattoria Tregole' just outside Castellina in Chianti. This is from the 2004 vintage which was hugely successful in Tucscany and is 100% Sangiovese—elegant, delicious and not over extracted as has been the recent trend. This is proper, high-class Chianti.

Our tasting notes

Deep ruby red with violet hues with a scented nose of red fruit and spices. The wine is rich and full with well balanced tannin and acidity. Very elegant. Will go really well with pasta, meat—and cheese. This is a definitely good Italian wine.

About Chianti Classico

The Chianti appellation centered on Castellina in Chianti near Siena in Tuscany is where the soil is predominately limestone, giving the Sangiovese grape its scented, floral flavours. The best wines are Chianti Classicos where the rules restricting yields and controlling production techniques are much more rigorous.
