Domaine Nouvelère | Crozes-Hermitage
Philippe & Vincent Jaboulet
2007
NEWFrom the famous Thalabert vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, bought by Philippe & Vincent when the Jaboulet empire was sold 5 years ago and re-named 'Nouvelère'. This is almost certainly the finest Crozes-Hermitage made now—and from the stunning 2007 vintage—the best the Rhône has seen for several decades. A very fine wine to buy now, try a few bottles and lay the rest down for many years of great drinking. Wine of this quality at under £20 a bottle hardly exists and is a must for all serious wine lovers.

The Press
‘The best Crozes I have ever tasted, resonant forest fruit/violet aromas, hint of pepper savoury flavours, juicy blackcurrants. Superb effort.’ —Rose Murray Brown, The ScotsmanOur tasting notes
The wine is almost black, deep, dense purple with a nose of rich, ripe fruit. Concentrated and complex with an incredibly long finish, it will last for at least 15 years if not more. Delicious fine wine.Wine data

About the Jaboulet family
The Jaboulets were one of the great Northern Rhône families headed up in the 1970 and 1980's by Gerrard Jaboulet, a great ambassador for his wines and the region. Jaboulet’s two most famous wines were Hermitage La Chapelle and Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage, both recognised as the finest wines of their appellations and much lauded by Robert Parker. Jaboulet's fortunes however declined in the 1990's and it was sold out of the family in 2005. The only remaining family members now involved in the Rhône are Philippe and his nephew Vincent who purchased most of the Thalabert vineyards at the time of the sale. Now renamed Nouvelère (‘New Era’) and brought back to their former glory the vineyards are the best in Crozes with vines that are over 60 years old that grow on pebbly soil on south facing slopes. As good as it gets.
