Clotilde Davenne | Sauvignon Saint-Bris
2008
NEWThe best Sauvignon Saint-Bris on the market from Clotilde Davenne, the rising star of the Chablis region. This is pure Sauvignon at its very best that shows those New Zealanders how good Sauvignon can be at a price well below anything they can make of approaching quality. This is a very good wine that has deservedly won all sorts of awards—at a ridiculously low price!

The Press
‘The style is distinctly one of Loire-like intensity and minerality rather than New Zealand flamboyance, but there's an extra dimension of lemony cut and apple flvour, as well as quite a richly-textured palate. Shimmering, flavourful stuff.’— Wine of the Week, Wine-Pages, 10/5/09. ‘Pale, shimmering gold in colour it offers a delicious combination of the grape’s fresh, tangy qualities and the soft, creamy characteristics of the Chablis region. Powerful, yet soft and perfect on its own or with fish and shellfish and at this price you’re simply not going to match it.’— Herald Express, 24/4/09. ‘Top 10 White for Spring: A curiosity and a tasty one, too: a Sauvignon Blanc from Chardonnay country. …..Clotilde Davenne, the former winemaker at JM Brocard, has fashioned a delightfully crisp, lean and minerally example. It cries out for a plate of seafood.’— Jonathan Ray, Daily Telegraph, 19th May ‘Her Saint-Bris has a fine mineral nose: not so different from a Sancerre, with good acidity and fresh fruit on the palate. And a quite different minerality from Chablis.’— Rosemary George MW

About Clotilde Davenne
Clotilde was the head winemaker at Chablis producers Jean Marc Brocard before she started on her own producing a range of fine Chablis and, where her heart lies, Sauvignon from Saint-Bris. She is a perfectionist who lives in a charming farmhouse in the Chablis village of Prehy amongst the vines making truly handmade and individual wines. Her style expresses the minerality and soul of her terroir.About Saint Bris
The village of Saint-Bris-le-Vineaux lies in the valley of the Yonne River located between Auxerre and Chablis. The appellation is exceptional within Burgundy for only producing Sauvignon—elsewhere in this region the only white grape varieties permitted are Chardonnay and Aligote.
