Saint-Julien | Saint-Julien, Bordeaux
2000
A stunning bargain: wine from the legendary 2000 vintage from the vineyards of one of the St-Julien 'super second' classified growths owned by the Borie family—at a fraction of the price of the Château wine, which Robert Parker describes as 'the essence of elegance, symmetry, balance, breed, class and distinction.' Comes in wooden cases. This is very high-class, fully-mature claret.

The Press
'The combination of a great vintage with the winemaking skills of the team behind Ducru-Beaucaillou, Grand-Puy-Lacoste and Haut-Batailley means this is a bit of a no-brainer...A bargain. 90 Points' —Simon Woods, Wine & Spirit, January 2008Special note
Wines like this are very hard to come by and are the result of French wine laws having fixed limits on the amount of wine that can be sold under a château's label, regardless of the quantity and quality of the harvest. The law prevents us or the growers revealing the names of these châteaux. Suffice it to say that it is one of the best. Our tasting notes
Dark, deep and dreamy with a rich fruit nose, hints of chocolate. Lots of rich, ripe, chewy mature berry fruit. Beautifully balanced and a very fine glass of claret in every respect with that unique elegance that comes from the best 'terroir' in St-Julien. Drinking perfectly now as it will for at least another 5 years. Highly recommended by us all.Wine data
