Castelnau de Suduiraut | Sauternes
2003
This stunning ‘sticky’ in ½ bottles is pure nectar. It is the second wine of Château Suduiraut, a premier Cru Classe Sauternes whose vines border those of Y’quem. It really is everything you would expect from one of the best desert wine producers in the world but at a fraction of the price—at under £12 for a half bottle!

The Press
'…it is a concentrated, rich, sticky wine, with flavours of orange marmalade, ripe peach, cinnamon, honey and a zinging acidity.'— The York Press, 2/5/09 'Château Suduiraut's second wine is a typically rich 2003 with concentrated aromas of marmalades, mushrooms and dates. There’s power and freshness to the palate, with grapefruit and honeycomb showing through. Drink now—2013. 3 Stars'— Decanter Magazine, May 2009
Our tasting notes
The deep golden yellow speaks of a year of glorious sunshine and optimal ripeness.A lovely candied nose defined by tropical fruit (pineapple, guava and pawpaw), vanilla (from the 15 months in French oak barrels) and cinnamon. The richness of the vintage is reflected on the palate, which with its powerful opulence recalls the impression of candied fruit. The taste lasts and lasts…Fabulous.

About Chateau Suduiraut
This estate dates all the way back to the fifteenth century and the days of Louis XI but it only started to achieve prominence two centuries later when the current Chateau was built by the Suduiraut family. In the classification of 1855 Chateau Suduiraut was awarded 1er Cru Classee status along with the likes of Chateau Coutet and Giraud.Suduiraut has since been bought by AXA Millésimes group, the group responsible for reviving Pichon Baron and Cantenac Brown, and has gone from strength to strength producing some of the very finest sweet wines in the world. Their 2003 vintage was awarded a staggering 95 points by Robert Parker.
