1 bottle Domaine Les Eminades “Cebenna” Saint Chinian 2002
A superb example of the wines that southern France can produce in the 21st century—totally traditionally made by Luc and Patricia Bettoni in a tiny vineyard of very old vines of over 100 years old, who still press their grapes with their feet—minimal intervention and extraordinary attention to every detail produce a wonderfully rich and concentrated red wine. 1 bottle Château du Glana Bordeaux 2002
A fine Cru Bourgeois from St-Julien in the Medoc. This is exactly what what you would expect from thoroughly good, well-made claret from the excellent 2002 vintage. Very good value for money and drinking now (we recommend opening the bottle 1/2 hour before you drink it). 1 bottle Château Richemont Bordeaux 2003
Eminently quaffable Claret from a great Bordeaux vintage at a great price. We know the wine well and it just about the perfect all-rounder suitable for any occasion and drinkable with just about anything. Our 'House' red. 1 bottle Château Peyrabon Haut-Médoc Bordeaux 2004
A really good Cru Bourgeois where the vines grow on sandy gravel. This property owned by the Bernard family is an example of how to make fabulous claret using great terroir combined with the latest in traditional modern technology (minimal intervention—for example vertical wine presses which are gentle and rely on gravity). The wines from Château Peyrabon win awards whenever they are shown. Their 2004 is no exception. 1 bottle La Famiglia Sicily 2006
A very special Italian wine from the foothills of Mount Etna in Sicily, made by legendary winemaker Peter Vinding-Diers especially for us from Nero d'Avola, the Sicilian red grape. This is delicious and a very fine wine—beautifully made by a 'Master' who brought Château Rahoul in Bordeaux to prominence. 1 bottle Domaine de la Tourade "Font des Aïeux" Gigondas 2006
A stunning wine from a vineyard just below the summit of Gigondas. The soil is rocky, red and inhospitable, making the vines struggle with every grape to produce this remarkable wine. It deserves its stellar rating of 3 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins. 1 bottle Château Richemont Bordeaux Rosé 2006
A magnificent Merlot-based Rosé made and blended for us by Château de Sours, producers of 'possibly the best Rosé in the world' (the late Auberon Waugh). This is everything you would expect and more from a Rosé from Château de Sours. The best there is—simply delicious. We don't have an enormous quantity of this wine so we suggest you order early. 1 bottle Boirà Pinot Grigio Veneto 2007
A delightful fresh, totally organic, oak-aged Pinot Grigio from the Veneto region in Italy. We have tasted dozens of Italian Pinot Grigios and this this was simply the best—and great value. 1 bottle Château Lafont Menaut White Bordeaux 2006
The best white Bordeaux comes from the inner Graves appellation—Pessac-Léognan. Bordeaux is renowned throughout the world for its red wines—it also make some spectacularly good dry white wines that tend to get overlooked and are normally priced at well below what they should be. This is an excellent example of what really good, modern well-made white Graves is all about. 1 bottle Saint-Véran White Burgundy 2006
A wonderful creamy rich St-Véran from the Burgundian House of Pierre Janny that has won countless awards including 2 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins, France's no 1 selling wine guide. The wine is everything you would expect...and more. 1 bottle Tagonius Tinto Roble Vinos de Madrid 2004
A remarkable and delicious find from the Tagonius winery just outside Madrid. After tasting hundreds of moderate wines, a discovery like this makes it all worth while! Up until now this wine has only really found its way to the best restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona and San Sebastien. It is a far better wine than anything we have tasted so far from neighbouring Rioja. Robert Parker rightly sings its praises—it is remarkable value for money. 1 bottle Coupage Ribera del Guadiana, Crianza 2004
From the Bodegas Ortiz, Coupage from Extremadura is made under the watchful eye of Anders Vinding-Diers (see also Mirabel). Superb Crianza at the forefront of modern winemaking. Tremendous value for money for a quality wine.
